Internationally Acclaimed Jazz trio Returns to The Dunsmore For Two Nights

July 26th & 27th

Famed Jazz Drummer Dave King (The Bad Plus, Happy Apple) returns with his acclaimed trio to The Dunsmore Listening Room. The group opened the room in December with a prospective live recording session to a sold-out audience. The inimitable pianist Bill Carrothers is a perfect match for the 9-foot concert Bosendorfer. The group plays off of each other magically and is truly a treat to watch as they take on originals and inventive arrangements of standards.

"Fridley had not been on our nightlife itinerary until we discovered Crooners. Sort of a mashup of First Avenue (there are two music rooms) and the Dakota Jazz Club, this converted supper club still serves supper-club food. But the music in the 200-capacity lounge is an eclectic mix for baby boomers, with the likes of Mary Jane Alm, Willie Walker and Patty Peterson. The jewel of Crooners is the Dunsmore Room, a listening parlor with just 80 seats and a gorgeous Bösendorfer grand piano. Don’t talk or clank your fork. Just appreciate the instrumental and vocal sounds in an intimate atmosphere overlooking Moore Lake." -Star Tribune (Above photo of Mary Louise Knutson and Gordy Johnson by Andrea Canter.)

Introducing the dunsmore room

Your live music experience at Crooners just got better.

We are proud to present The Dunsmore Room at Crooners Lounge and Supper Club!

THE DUNSMORE ROOM - The former Lakeside Dining Room at Crooners is now the home of a 9-foot concert Bosendorfer grand piano! Our fabulous dining room alongside Moore Lake will continue to remain one of your favorite places to dine in the Twin Cities. 2-3 days a week, however, (Sundays and Tuesdays and some Mondays and Wednesdays,) The Dunsmore Room will be one of the best places to listen to top-notch music in the Midwest and beyond! Every other day of the week music will continue to take place in our beloved lounge. The Dunsmore Room is one of the area's only spots to have a listening experience in an intimate setting over dinner and drinks.

Come Dine With Us

A Destination

It was the second Golden Age of the 20th Century. The Great Depression and World War II had given way to years of great growth and prosperity. Babies were “booming,” Eisenhower was in the White House, and Sinatra ruled the airwaves.

In America’s best restaurants “Continental Cuisine” graced the tables. Dishes brought back from the GI’s experience in Europe had evolved into something uniquely American. People dressed for dinner and added to the level of sophistication that made dining out a special occasion.

Relish trays, tableside service, great steaks and seafood and refinements such as Duck à l’Orange and Steak Diane were staples on all menus. Martinis, Manhattans, Old Fashioneds and Whiskey Sours literally poured from the bars - and no meal was complete without an after dinner Grasshopper, Brandy Alexander or Crème de Menthe Frappé. And everywhere there was live music from Crooners tinkling the 88’s and giving us their versions of Sinatra, Martin, Como and Darin.

Crooners Lounge and Supper Club celebrates and pays homage to this great era and the fabulous dining experiences it provided. We bring it to you with our own contemporary spin that is at once mid-20th century and yet current and relevant for today.

Join us on a trip back to that iconic time on 21st century wings. “Come fly with us, come dance with us, come dine with us and let your heart be free!”
