At the peak of a remarkable career at 91, the great Marilyn Maye returns to Crooners Supper Club for a four-night, five-show engagement!
In March, when she dazzled and amazed in her sold-out, two-night Crooners debut, Maye, a product of Kansas City, had not been seen in the Twin Cities since 2010. Now the toast of New York cabaret -- where she performs frequently at Feinstein’s/54 Below and Jazz at Lincoln Center – Maye is proving that her open, convivial, honest and straightforward approach to performing – hallmarks of American supper-club style prevalent several generations ago -- is newly in demand. Bandleader Jon Batiste of “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” one of her many new showbiz adherents, says “she’s the real deal, man!”
“Marilyn Maye has a packed schedule and a batch of new fans who may have missed the first eight decades of her career!” - The New Yorker
Maye plays both the intimate 85-seat Dunsmore Jazz Room and the 160-seat MainStage during her five-show run: Wednesday and Thursday October 2 & 3 (both at 7:30pm) are in the Dunsmore. Friday October 4 (at 7:30pm) she commands the MainStage. And on Saturday October 5 she does the MainStage at 5:30pm, followed by the Dunsmore Jazz Room at 8pm.
Joining her for this five-show, nearly week-long stand will be her New York music director Tedd Firth on piano, who leads a trio with locals Gary Raynor on bass and David Schmalenberger on drums (both of whom played with her in March). Tickets are $40 and $50. For tickets visit www.croonersmn.com
