Mary M. Tjosvold, PhD
Mary M. Tjosvold is a local legend in the Minneapolis area. She is primarily known for her large health care company, Mary T. Inc, serving people in senior accommodation, assisted living, rental housing, hospice, home health and people with disabilities. She also provides services in Maryland, Wisconsin and Arizona.
She was the chairperson of the American Refugee Committee, has traveled extensively to war torn countries such as Burma, Rwanda, Gaza and Bosnia and established her own nursery and primary school in Cameroon. She has been honored many times, but notably, she recently received the Martin Luther King, Jr. Award for her humanitarianism.
In 2009 Mary took her very first cruise and the rest is history! Mary and Larry were married in August 2013.
For nearly 40 years, Englishman Larry Dunsmore performed on cruise ships and five-star hotels around the world. From the legendary QEII and Queen Mary to the Peninsular in Hong Kong, the Savoy in London to the Carlyle in New York to Raffles in Singapore to the Burj Al Arab in Dubai, he brought his irrepressible sense of humor and superb piano skills to a vast international audience.
He toured with Barry Manilow, Debbie Reynolds, accompanied Ella Fitzgerald and in 1981, performed at the engagement party for Prince Charles and Lady Diana.
But nothing in his lifelong career compared to December 2009 when he looked up from his piano on the Coral Princess and saw Mary Tjosvold. He invited her to lie down on his piano while he crooned a song to her. In November 2014, Larry and Mary opened Crooners Lounge and Supper Club. We fondly remember Larry with the additon of a new listening space at Crooners called The Dunsmore Room.
